Course Syllabus and Description:
Physical Science
is designed to serve as a foundation for other high school science
courses.
It is a lab course that integrates the fundamental concepts of
chemistry
and physics. It emphasizes inquiry-based learning, process skills, and
critical
thinking skills. Experimentation is the basis of science; therefore,
lab
investigations are an integral part of this course. All topics included
in
the SC Physical Science Standards will be addressed in this course. The
following
link is the state standards support documents. This will give an idea
of
what the state requires students to learn to pass the End of Course
Exam.

Course Name:
Environmental Studies
This course is an introductory course designed to familiarize students with major concepts of science, especially matter and energy and how they interact with the environment. This course provides numerous opportunities for students to develop science process skills, critical thinking, and an appreciation for the nature of science through inquiry-based learning experiences. Investigative, hands-on lab activities that address the high school inquiry standards are an integral part of this course. In addition there will be a strong emphasis on math skills throughout this course. Math is an essential skill in the development of an understanding of science and the development of lab skills.
