Primary Functions of the Spring Valley Guidance Department:

To provide a comprehensive developmental guidance and counseling program

To provide services to meet the needs of each student to whom they are specifically assigned

To consult with teachers, staff, and parents to enhance their effectiveness in helping students


Major Responsibilities of our School Counselors:

Implement the high school program through classroom guidance, individual and group counseling, and infusion in content areas

Counsel individual and groups of students toward academic growth and career development

Counsel individuals and small groups of students toward personal/social and emotional growth

Consult with teachers, staff, and parents regarding the developmental needs of students

Refer students to special programs, specialists, and /or community agencies, and consult with parents regarding referrals when appropriate

Participate in, coordinating , and conducting activities that contribute to the effective operation of the counseling program and school

Planning and evaluating the counseling program

Pursuing continuous professional growth

 Before joining the Viking family, I was the assistant women's swim coach at the University of South Carolina.  I believe guidance to be an integral part of a student's total education plan.
